From sleepless nights with toddlers to navigating your teen’s independence, there are moments when every parent wonders, “Am I doing this right?” At Georgia Family Therapy, we provide supportive, practical guidance to help parents strengthen connection, confidence, and emotional balance at home.
Does This Sound Familiar?
Parenting can feel overwhelming at times, especially when you’re trying to support your child while managing your own stress and emotions. You may find yourself:
Uncertain if your child’s behavior is typical
You may question whether what you’re seeing is a phase or a sign that additional support is needed.
Feeling reactive or unsure what to say
You may know the kind of parent you want to be, yet struggle in the moment to respond in ways that align with your values.
Feeling disconnected from your child
Communication may feel strained, distant, or filled with misunderstandings.
Struggling with daily routines
Daily routines can turn into power struggles, leaving everyone feeling frustrated and exhausted.
If this sounds like you, you’re not alone—and support is available. Therapy and coaching can help you parent with greater confidence and connection.

What to Expect
Our parent therapy program is an innovative, 15-session parent coaching journey designed to help you strengthen your relationship with your child and feel more confident as a parent. The program combines observation, feedback, and hands-on parenting tools drawn from Positive Discipline, Parent-Child Relationship Therapy (PCRT), and Theraplay—evidence-based approaches that promote connection, emotional regulation, and cooperation.
1. Intake and Consultation
The first session is a consultation where you’ll share your concerns, family background, and goals for therapy. Together, we’ll identify the main challenges you’d like to address and outline a plan that fits your family’s needs.
2. Observation and Assessment
Next, we’ll invite you to attend a parent-child observation session. Through guided play and structured activities, we’ll observe how you and your child interact, noting strengths and areas for growth. Following the observation, we’ll schedule a feedback session to discuss insights from the assessment and create a personalized roadmap for your parent coaching work.
3. Parent Coaching Sessions
After the assessment phase (typically four sessions), we begin the parenting treatment phase. These weekly or biweekly sessions integrate learning, reflection, and practice. You’ll explore emotion-coaching, positive discipline techniques, and attachment-based strategies tailored to your child’s temperament and developmental stage. Across six sessions, we’ll focus on concrete tools you can practice at home to create lasting change in your family dynamics.
4. Parent-Child Interaction Sessions
In the final phase, you’ll participate in parent-child sessions designed to put your new skills into action. These sessions help you strengthen emotional bonds, improve communication, and build secure attachment through shared activities and guided coaching. You’ll leave the program with a deeper understanding of your child and renewed confidence in your ability to nurture growth, connection, and resilience.
