Courtney Watson LPC, NCC, MEd, MS
Child, Teen, Family, and Adult Therapist

Courtney is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with over 12 years of experience providing therapy for children, teens, adults, and families. She is especially experienced in working with children and their caregivers, supporting a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and developmental concerns. Courtney takes a collaborative, family-centered approach, partnering with parents and caregivers—and, when appropriate, educators and schools—to support meaningful and lasting progress across settings.
Courtney specializes in anxiety (including OCD), depression, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), behavioral challenges, and Conduct Disorder. She also supports clients navigating life transitions, including the transition to college and other developmental milestones, as well as school-related concerns such as bullying and social skills development.
As a trauma-informed clinician, Courtney has extensive experience supporting children and families through complex dynamics, including high-conflict divorce, reunification therapy, and blended family transitions. She works with sensitivity and care in addressing trauma related to physical, emotional, verbal, and sexual abuse, helping clients build resilience and develop effective coping strategies.
Her clinical approach is integrative, flexible, and grounded in research-supported, evidence-based practices. Courtney draws from person-centered, systemic, and holistic frameworks to create individualized treatment plans tailored to each client’s unique needs. When working with children, she incorporates developmentally appropriate approaches such as play therapy, behavioral strategies, and creative interventions, including art-based techniques, to support engagement and emotional expression.
Courtney’s goal is to help clients better identify, understand, and express their emotions in healthy and meaningful ways. She creates a warm, supportive, and engaging therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, empowered, and equipped to navigate life’s challenges.
Courtney is currently pursuing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She received her BA in Psychology and English, with a minor in Accounting, from the University of South Florida; her MEd in Professional Counseling from the University of Georgia; and her MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University.
Courtney is trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), both evidence-based approaches for treating anxiety, OCD, depression, and PTSD. She is also trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), which supports children with behavioral challenges such as aggression and defiance while strengthening the parent-child relationship. In addition, Courtney has facilitated group therapy using a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) approach, helping women in recovery from trauma and substance use build skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance, while also supporting their parenting and recovery goals.
Outside of her clinical work, Courtney enjoys reading, traveling, spending time with her dog, hiking, and snowboarding.
