Individual Adult Psychotherapy

Helping Adults Find Balance, Clarity, and Emotional Wellness

ARE YOU SEEKING CALM, CLARITY, AND DIRECTION DURING A TIME OF CHANGE?

Life is full of transitions—relationships, parenting, career shifts, loss, and personal growth. Even positive change can bring stress and uncertainty. At Georgia Family Therapy, we provide a supportive, judgment-free space to help you navigate life changes so you can reconnect with yourself and live with more peace and purpose.

Does This Sound Familiar?

Relationship strain

Relationship strain or disconnection. You may notice more conflict, withdrawal, or a growing sense of distance from people you care about.

Constant anxiety and worrying

Feeling anxious or constantly on edge. Your mind may race with worries, making it hard to relax, focus, or “turn off” your thoughts.

Difficulty with change

Difficulty adjusting to stress or change. Situations like career shifts, divorce, parenting challenges, or caregiving can feel overwhelming and hard to manage.

Harsh self-criticism

Harsh self-criticism and perfectionism. You might hold yourself to impossible standards, feel never “good enough,” or struggle with low self-worth.

Persistent sadness

Persistent sadness or emotional exhaustion. You may feel low, unmotivated, or drained, even when nothing specific seems wrong.

If these experiences resonate with you, you’re not alone. Therapy can help you understand patterns, heal from the past, and create space for growth and self-compassion.

How Adult Therapy Helps

Our Approach

We tailor treatment to your goals, personality, and preferred pace, drawing from the following modalities:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
Identify unhelpful thoughts, build resilience, and gradually face fears to regain confidence.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Blend mindfulness and emotional regulation with practical tools for managing mood swings, relationships, and distress.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Understand and heal your “inner parts,” cultivating self-leadership and compassion toward all aspects of yourself.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) & Brainspotting
Reprocess painful memories and release emotional triggers stored in the body and brain.

EFT (Tapping)
A gentle acupressure-based technique for anxiety, depression, and trauma that promotes relaxation and calm.

Hypnotherapy
Use guided relaxation and focused attention to shift negative patterns, enhance confidence, and reduce anxiety.

Sessions typically last 50 minutes and are available in-person in Sandy Springs or virtually across Georgia.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What if I’m not sure where to start?

That’s okay—many people feel that way. The first step is simply reaching out. We will help you find the right therapist for your needs.

I’ve been in therapy before—how is this different?

Our approach is collaborative, warm, and integrative. We blend evidence-based methods with relational and somatic work so that healing feels practical, not clinical.

Can therapy help with work stress or burnout?

Absolutely. We help you identify sources of stress, set boundaries, and develop emotional tools to prevent burnout and restore balance.

How long does therapy last?

It depends on your goals. Some clients work short-term (20 sessions) to address specific concerns, while others continue longer to support deeper personal growth.

Is therapy just for people in crisis?

Not at all. Many clients begin therapy to gain clarity, reduce stress, or grow personally. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from support.

Do you offer teletherapy?

Yes. We provide secure video sessions for families across Georgia. Teletherapy can be particularly convenient for busy families or those outside the Atlanta metro area.
